Composition Lab

For a third consecutive year the “laboratory for composition and music creation” takes place in the Σύγχρονο Ωδείο Αθήνας. Creators with a simple interest for the subject, songwriters and composers are all invited to take part in this 2-hour weekly meeting. During the first two years a core of composers was shaped, who composed new pieces, analyzed pieces of the classical repertoire till repertoire of the 21st century and discussed issues concerning instrumentation, morphology, structure, aesthetics and history of music. Above all, the participants have developed their personal tools and creative process, which is the main goal of the laboratory. There is special focus in free improvisation, which takes place almost every week. All these happen in the context of a community which has been in constant dialogue. The meetings, which occur both online and in person, start in October and finish in May.
